What is an Ontario course code?

Each Ontario high school course has a five-character code. The first three letters identify the subject, the fourth character is the grade (1 = Grade 9 through 4 = Grade 12) and the final letter is the destination — U for university preparation, M for university/college, C for college and O for open.

Which courses matter most for university admission?

Accepted Answer

The admission average is built from six Grade 12 U/M courses. For engineering and science that usually means MHF4U, MCV4U, SPH4U, SCH4U and ENG4U. For commerce it is more often MHF4U or MDM4U with ENG4U and a business course.
